Learning Cafe - Session 03

Learning Cafe - Session 03: Paradigm Shift: Academic Competencies

Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invited Professor Dr. Abdul Rashid Kausar, currently working as Adjunct Professor- Department of Management, Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM) at University of Management and Technology to share his thoughts on "Paradigm Shift: Academic Competencies". Today the educational community as a whole faces a universal challenge: to ensure equitable and quality education as well as effective and efficient evaluation of student learning in hybrid, flexible or 100% distance modalities for their students.

This learning cafe focuses on a paradigm shift, especially for academic leaders. Why it is required? What is the need? Why should I consider it? and What's in it for me? Post Covid-19 has created a global environment in which academia is also facing challenges like;

1. How to share the content of the degree programs for which students were coming to their campuses?

2. How to prepare the academic faculty who were used to work in a classroom environment face to face on campus?

Let's not forget that the digital competencies and the digital technologies have paved the way where the academic leaders should also be innovative enough to take advantage of these digital technologies and be innovative in its content and in the programs which they offer for the students whether they come on campus or not.

This learning cafe shares with you what could be next for us as a faculty member and what could be next for students with which we interact and what else could be for the administration and the management of the university.
